You need PhD in chem to be prof.

Based on your interests physics or biology as second major

If you want to be a Chemistry professor then going to graduate school and getting a Ph.D. is necessary. Don’t waste time with a second major, get involved in a research lab, get strong letters from your advisers, nail the GRE and get into the best Ph.D. program you can.

BTW you should expect to receive a stipend of about $20K and no tuition costs to be a graduate student in the U.S.
