This page by Syracuse albeit a very competitive school, has more information about the major and the types of jobs that one may get including performing research (though may need doctorate/Ph.D.) or Rehabilitation Counseling: http://disabilitystudies.syr.edu/what/disabilitystudiesatSU.aspx

I’m not sure that there are too many jobs for rehab counselors, but they general help those with disabilities to adjust to their conditions and help them find jobs.

If you’re interested in rehab counseling, this site has accredited programs by the “council on rehabilitation education”: http://www.core-rehab.org/states/index.html

With schooling, please steer clear of those online, For-profit schools (though may have ‘brick and mortar’ buildings and may be ‘accredited’) such as penn foster, ashworth, devry, ITT tech, kaplan, argosy, capella, walden, university of phoenix, keiser, aiu, strayer, everest, sanford brown, westwood, colorado tech, brown mackie, ashford, high tech and others as they are merely out to “make a profit” (** and course credits may NOT transfer to other schools).

These consumer sites have negative posts by former students about those online, for-profit schools, and please heed the students’ warnings:

- http://www.complaintsboard.com and can search.

For U.S. colleges: http://www.utexas.edu/world/univ

General career info: http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search ‘counselors’, ‘teachers’ or such.
