Also with a Masters. What cities, states , areas pay the most? This is with a bachelor of science in secondary education.
It depends on where you live. Starting out where I live teachers make $39,000 per year. If you have your Masters where I live it equals an extra $5,000 every year.
I live in Northwestern Pa… I started at 37,108… That was 3 years ago…
I am in California and a BA would not be enough to be a teacher. However, if you completed the credential requirements, you can expect to start at 30-50,000. In my area, we start close to 40,000.
Just keep this in mind- if you do not have a continuing contract (from year to year) you may want to stay with just the bachelors degree. If you did not have that continuing contract, having a masters would be a detriment. Typically teachers with more education get paid more. Would you, as an administrator, hire the teacher that can teach secondary science with a bachelors degree, or the teacher that can teach the same thing but costs more to do it? Its a sucky thing to have to think about but until you have the job for sure, you may want to keep yourself as employable as possible
Salaries vary depending on many factors. You will find that jobs like these are negotiable when it comes to salary.More information, tips and help at http://moreaboutsalary.blogspot.com/
