Come to Bowling Green State University. the education program here is one of the top in the country. I’m a secondary social studies education major and I love it. I have a lot of friends that are secondary education majors focusing in lots of fields from phys ed to math, english, music, science, you name it. great programs. I LOVE it here.

The math education probably has a lot more math courses and the secondary ed. major more education courses. You may want to look at the list of required courses for each major and see which list has more interesting classes. Also, think about your long-term goals. If you want to be a department head or some other biggie in the education world, more education classes are good. If you really like math, go with the math major.

Try one out, and if you don’t like it, or it’s not the right fit, you can ALWAYS change your major. :)

If you’re looking at colleges, you should check out the University of Vermont. Their education program is amazing. I am a freshman here right now. I am a secondary ed major with a major concentration in English and a minor in History and Special Education. They have a 5 year masters program and you get licensed to teach in all states. :)
Another school with a great education program is University of the Pacific in California. It looks like an east coast school and has an excellent reputation. Good luck and don’t stress! =)

i feel that getting a major in secondary education is the best because it give a broader horizon to teaching because you may not want to teach math all of your life and this degree gives you options to teach other stuff. if you get a degree just straight in math then that is all you will be able to teach and you may change your mind once you get into it. Think about it
