There are many factors involved. Some families purchase a curriculum, texts, and workbooks from a company.

Other families enroll their children in a school district run home school program. That program would be free.

Some families will enroll their children in online school programs.

Too many types of programs, public, private, church……

some families will go it totally alone, only buying books for their kids.

You do not mention the state in which you live but here our homeschooling is free and it is homeschooling without the headache.

I have my kids currently enrolled online at OHDELA which is a tuition free k12 public school. They are great from the teachers to the curriculum. They have schools in Ohio, Colorado and Pennsylvania. You can call and get more information at 1.800.493.8680 or go online to http://mydela.com or http://blog.ohdela.com/homeschooling-without-the-headache/
OHDELA and it’s affiliate schools provide you with everything including a computer, printer, books, gift card for cartridges, field trips, clubs you can join like ski club, national honors society and more. They even reimburse you for internet and provide a myChoice account which allow you to do things to learn that you enjoy. For example you can take swimming, or visit museums, or buy books or other resources with it. It was one of the best decisions we ever made.
