Top schools will consider your grades and gmat far more than your undergraduate university. In fact, the top schools consider just about everything – all your credentials just about have to be perfect to get accepted.

I would imagine that a student with a 3.9 GPA and 700 GMAT from a no-name undergrad has a far better chance than a Harvard graduate with a 2.5 GPA and 550 on the GMAT. The former applicant obviously has motivation, ambition, and is hard working…while the former may be smart, but never applied him/herself. No top program wants that type of student.
