you have to teach several years before going on to master’s in education. Then you will start as assistant principal and move up accordingly.

First you have to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree with a major in English, then a secondary teaching credential which takes an additional year, You have to teach for a few years then apply for an administrative credential or MS in administration. Meanwhile you will have to find a job teaching, then learn to work with teachers while working on your administrator credential, learn the politics of your school district and then apply for the job of principal. I would say if you get on a fast track it would take approximately 10 years working as a teacher, department head, coordinator, vice principal and then get to your goal of becoming a principal. Wew!
