Usually, yes.

On-line diplomas usually have. However, some of these are called “degree mills”, meaning that it’s students have to make little or no effort to earn the degree, and get it as long as they pay tuition.

This has led to employers considering on-line degrees valuable only if they were issued by a trusted institution which is know to have a high academic standard, and challenging coursework.

Furthermore, there is a lot of non formal distance learning. This includes people learning a language by doing grammar exercises on-line etc. This has value, if the site is good.

Summary: Distance learning has it’s value if done properly.

Distance learning has been of great help to many who want to pursue their studies while juggling with career and family commitments. In Malaysia the Ministry of Higher Education oversees that distance learning programs conducted by the Open University Malaysia (OUM) maintain standards in compliance with the governments educational requirements.
