I have an interview where I need to give a 5 minute lesson (k-12) special ed- suggestions?
Doctorates /PHD and how long?
Mel,
Yes , I’m a teacher.
I can remember when special needs children were not able to attend school and had to be either home schooled or the parents had to pay for a private education. I would really like the name of the law and the year it became a reality.
I just relocated to a different state and the one I came from did not offer anything but a standard diploma. I am working on a paper about it for my graduate class.

Like if a home-schooled student requires the services of a specialist that would normally be provided by the school district, how would a parent see that his or her student’s needs are being met?
Would districts care that you are really comfortable working with disabled people if you don’t have a lick of teaching experience? I can’t find a teacher’s aide job, so this is what I am stuck with. Should I be worried that I am in a totally different field for now, just to pay the bills?
I need information about what they do about blindness and maybe autism and down syndrome.
